Cuba DiMaggio-Kalish Program Oct 19-26 2015
Cuba Application for October 2015 DiMaggio Kalish
We’ve had a two decade love affair with Cuba and we’ve seen the side of Cuba most people don’t see. To visit Cuba is an amazing visual experience as well as a spiritual one. You will come away a much finer photographer and a better person. Please join us for an experience of a lifetime. You won’t be disappointed!
*Just for the record, even though Cuban/American relations have improved and certain sanctions have been lifted you still cannot go to Cuba directly from the United States. You need to go as a group on-a-people to people exchange (such as ours), go with a religious organization, are a journalist or are in the Medical profession. You need to have scheduled activities with very little free time for recreational travel/activities. The only thing that has changed is that you are now are allowed to bring back $100 worth of alcohol or tobacco from Cuba.
A little about our trip – the group will travel to Havana, Jaimanitas, neighborhood of the Artist Fuster decorated with his tile work, Cojimar, seaside setting for The Old Man & the Sea, Santa Clara, Cayo Santa Maria, La Estrella, Remedios, and Caibarien. We will stroll the streets of Havana, visit The Higher Institute of Arts with Alberto Faya, long time musician and expert on Cuba’s Culture and cultural history. We will meet with the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, visit the Callejon de Hamel, meet and photograph the Psico Ballet, walk along the famous Malécon seawall – a block away from the hotel, visit the Arte y Corete project, the Callejon de Hamel, visit Foteca, The Cuban Center for Photography, the Rafael Trejo Boxing Gym, visit The Hemmingway Museum, and go to a jazz club. We will visit the Che Memorial and Museum, Artisan Workshops, explore towns, meeting Cuban people in small villages as well as cities, coffee plantations and settlements. We will be stopping along the way wherever there are people with whom to interact and where great photos may be made. Special photography instruction and guidance will be given by your group leaders, Joe and JoAnne both Internationally known photographers. Airfare, top drawer accommodations, breakfast daily, several lunches and dinners, visa, transportation and English speaking guide. “Cuba was great, I love Joe and JoAnne, JoAnne & Joe. I have been on many day and weekend shoots with both of them, together and separately. The trip to Cuba (as it should be) was very well planned and organized. It was a terrific experience. “ Joel Kleiner
