I do not believe in violence. There’ve been too many tragedies caused by people who are mentally unstable using Guns. Something must be done to change this! It’s time for each of us to take a stand, so there are no more senseless deaths.
This was a Peaceful Protest last night, a Candlelight Vigil held for the young people who were killed in the Parkland, Florida School Shooting. Young people will be marching in Washington this month and I believe they can truly make a change. They are our future.
A Lovely and Talented Dancer from the Hanna Q Dance Company that I had an opportunity to photograph.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday. You are a Shining Star!

Joe’s and my first date was in NYC, during Chinese New Year on a rainy evening. Joe made this beautiful portrait of me, in the rain with red cheeks and next to a Post No Bills sign.
Ever since then, every time we’re together and when we come across a Post No Bills sign, he does a portrait of me. I thought I would share it with you.
In looking for the first portrait, I came across another that I fondly remember and it was when I brought Joe to meet artist Will Barnet.
I’ve been having fun playing around with random shapes and colors and it has become a challenge to see what I can come up with. Which ones remain my favorites and which ones I get tired of.
All in all, it is a new direction for me and I’m curious where it may lead…

Anyone within 50 miles of NYC should consider spending a half hour to see an absolutely new style documentary by Alan and Wendy Kaplan. It’s not same old same old. It’s a new vision straight out of one of the finest photographers we know and anyone who knows Wendy Kaplan will tell you she’s a loving, caring person, and always gives back! When she gets on film or in front of a camera watch out! She becomes a tornado! I loved the film and I’m sure you will too. JoAnne Kalish
