I’d like to share an article I did in the April 2018 issue of the Milford Journal on Blues Musician Bobby Kyle. I’ve always considered Bobby to be multi-talented and I’ve known him for a long time. Bobby has a new album out called “It’s My Life” and if I can make a suggestion….I think you should pick up a copy and find the time to go see him & his band live. He’s a phenomenal artist and you’ll be glad you did!
I wrote and illustrated the article and because my partner Joe DiMaggio, has been working with Bobby for many years, he also contributed photographically as he has some incredible photos of Bobby. Joe also has a chapter on Bobby Kyle in his book “FILL THE FRAME” and if you’d like… a signed copy can be purchased directly from us or you can purchase one through Amazon.
I’m including a pdf of the article in case you don’t have access to a copy of the Magazine (click here -) kyle Below is the cover of Bobby’s latest CD and a link to his website http://www.bobbykyle.com/index.html
On this particular occasion I tagged along with my partner Joe DiMaggio to give him a hand filming his documentary film “In This Corner.” I think at the time he was working with a brand new camera and was not totally comfortable with it yet. I also wanted to meet and photograph the legendary Boxer Jake LaMotta as “Raging Bull” happens to be one of my favorite films.
He was definitely the strong character I expected. He brought along a good looking woman he introduced as his fiance. She and I were pretty close in age. I liked her. He came very early which was very unexpected and we were not even close to being set up yet. We spent the entire afternoon filming in P.J Clarke’s a famous Saloon close to his apartment. We had very little light in the bar, despite the fact we sat him at a window table and it was difficult working with such little light. Jake was brutally honest in the interview, including saying some things we were very surprised at while the camera rolled. These are some of the photos I made that day.
The Black Bear Film Festival is always an amazing event in our awesome little town of Milford, PA, in the Upper Delaware. The upcoming dates are October 20-22 2017
Thanks to Terry and Doug for hosting this at their home in Dingman’s Ferry, where you can also find some unique folk art and gifts in their Phoenix store on the property. Doug & Company made an fabulous spread and we had a blast! I’m including a handful of snaps from the recent dinner with some of the usual suspects. http://www.blackbearfilm.com/http://dimaggio-kalish.com
